Guardando in dietro:
Volevo ricordare mia figlia a modo mio.
ti amo...
I havent been
writing here lately......
Our Christmas went like this:
Luca and Calogero got up early hoping and praying that Fater Christmas had come. He did! While they were opening their presents I kept thinking that Thea should had been there. I immagined her there lookin at the lights.... tearing the paper off of her presents and maybe even taking her brother's toys.
We had lunch. The simplest lunch without any of the usual Christmas trimmings. Our table had a candle burning brightly for our little princess.
Christmas day was also Thea's 9th monthversary. We went to the cemetery to wish her a monthversery and to wish her a happy christmas.
Her corner at home is decorated too. I keep adding something new to her corner..... that's all I can do.
Today...... 31st of December....
Looking back on this year:
January: Thea was with me.... I was more than happy.... I was walking ten feet off the ground. I knitted my baby's blanket. I started buying all of her baby clothes and ordering lots of things for her birthday. I had a scan and saw my little baby swimming around "happily" (I thought so anyway).
February: Another scan. There she was..... still happily swimming around. Still shopping and spending money on my baby. Feeling fat and ugly but so happy...... thinking that just two months will pass and I'll get to know my little girl.
March: Started off wonderfully. Thea was kicking and alive....... Then...... everything went black and silent..... The only sound that broke that silence wasn't a baby's cry but my yelling and groaning.....my heart was bleeding.....
May - September: why put 5 months together? well they were exactly the same.... I hid inside my home. I wanted to be alone with my baby's memory. I wanted to be able to remember my baby my way.
September: School starts. My boys need their mum.... and with my baby on my shoulder I start to face up to the world outside.
October: I start working again..... my baby is always with me and will never leave my heart and my mind.
November: All saints day. I actually start to see that my baby is not forgotten.... not only in my eyes ..... but in the eyes and heart of people around me.
December: He we are.... the last month of this year. Thea's year. Every year I look back at the year that has passed and get nostalgic about everything I leave behind but excited about the year to come.
Many people have said.... 2011 has been a cruel year. Yes I suppose it has been ..... but I still can't hate it. I still can't say goodbye.... I still can' bring myself to hate a year where I finally saw my little Thea's face. I can't stop thinking that time will pass..... and will keep passing.... yet I will keep getting farther and farther away from that cruel day that I would gladly relive just to see your little face again.
Thank you Thea.... thank you for being you in your special way and for everything you have given me.....and for everything that you still keep giving me.
I love you....
Dedicated to my daughter who flew away at 36 weeks pregnancy.

This time last year.....Un anno oggi....
Era la vigilia di Natale.... (quello non è cambiato). I tuoi fratelli erano eccitati aspettando Babbo Natale....(quello non è cambiato nemmeno). .... tu eri dentro di me ... scalciando....
Buon Natale piccola....
It was Christmas Eve.... (that hasn't changed). Your brother's where excited waiting for Father Christmas.... (that hasn't changed either)..... you were with me.... kicking inside me..... (no need to say that that has changed....).
I miss you Princess Thea.
Always in my heart..... now and forever.....
Happy Christmas baby girl.....

That question popped up AGAIN.....
Mummy when are we going to put up our christmas tree?
Luca said: "We're not having a Christmas tree this year because our little sister has passed away".
HOW SAD! Hearing an almost 8 year old boy practically saying that Christmas is cancelled because Thea isn't here anymore. I then took out the little Christmas Tree and the little Nativity scene and put it in their room. Thank God they liked the idea.... espcially when I told them that they are going to be the luckiest boy because this year Father Christmas will be visiting their bedroom!!!!
Here is our attempt at doing a little tree with butterflies:
I also took Thea her Christmas tree. I've been looking for a nice little tree for her but not found anything I really liked. I was considering making it myself....but yesterday I came across this:

Forse parlo troppo dell'amicizia....forse do troppa importanza all'amicizia.
L'amicizia è amore e do' il mio amore solo a persone speciali.
A friend of ours died. We went to his funeral. As always when there is a funeral in the village nearly the whole village goes to the funeral. Hubby and I went..... and whilst the coffin was in the cemetary and everyone went to kiss the coffin and say their last goodbyes..... Hubby and I went to say hello to our little angel. A friend saw us..... nearby and asked us if he could come and kiss Thea' grave. I was SO happy! He came.... he kissed her coffin and put his arms round our shoulders with tears in his eyes.
These are friends! These are people who have the guts to not think that talking about Thea means that it's going to hurt our feelings. I'm SO greatful to have these friends and I thank my little angel for making it clear to me who REALLY is a friend to me.
I maybe go on about friendship too much..... maybe I give friendship too much importance. Friendship is Love and I only give love to special people.

A friend asked what time the cemetary closes....Un'amica ha chiesto quando chiude il cimitero...
..... She said that she has bought a little angel ornament for Thea's grave. It's an Angel dressed up all Christmassy!!!!!
I love it when Thea is remembered!!!!!!!

Mummy.... when are we going to put our christmas tree up?
That's what Calogero asked me today. I horribly tried to ignore what he said. Then he said it a second time... and I said.... you and Luca have already decorated the christmas tree and the navtivity scene downstairs in your aunt's house. "But OUR christmas tree is nicer!"
Truth is is that I'm trying to shut out Christmas in our house the best I can.
I don't want a tree with all the decorations that I made last year when Thea was with me. I don't want to take out that tree that I touched the last time Thea was with me.... it's as though I want to savour that moment. Not touch the tree that I touched when Thea was with me not to contaminate it. GOD this is all so difficult!
I think I'll try and make things fair and put up a little tree in the boys bedroom. I really hope they're happy with it.....
Roll on 8th of January!!!!!! I want you to be here already!

Empty... Vuoto....
This..... is all I had to show for tonight! An empty Shopping cart!
I met my ex neighbour at the supermarket tonight. It had been 4 years since I last saw her. She looked at me and said : "you look a bit fatter.... are you pregnant?" :(
I then told her the whole story. She said she was so sorry to hear about it. She then said "oh a little girl!" he then said.... "God will end you another little girl I'm sure!". I don't want another little girl I want Thea! I wanted Thea in that shopping cart sitting there.... dribbling and coeing while her brothers where holding on to the cart. I wanted to be able to show her my lovely new born baby and tell her how happy I was. I wanted to ...... but all I could do.... was stand there with a shopping cart full of food.... and me a great big fat lump that still hasn't managed to get rid of all the wieght I put on for Thea's pregnany. All I have left.... is fat!

Abortion.... :(
I can't understand why a doctor would call a 36 week baby an abortion.
I went to the doc. to have some blood tests done just to understand the cause of Thea's going away. I didn't have the test done on the placenta or he umbilical cord and I refused to have the autopsy done on Thea. I wanted to see if I have something that isn't right with my body.
My doc. kept saying.
MY DAUGHTER IS NOT AN ABORTION!!!!!!!!!

Again Virtual Friendship.....
So che sto diventando molto noiosa!!!!
I know I'm getting really boaring!!!!
I really want to tell you about this......
I got an email today. I really loving one .... A virtual friend.... telling me she is expecting a baby in April. Telling me that she hasn't made it pubblic yet. Wanting to tell my first because she doesn't want to hurt my feelings. Saying that she knows that I'll say I'm happy for her and only be meaing it by half. Saying that I can block her on FB that she'll understand.... that she will always write CLEARLY in messages that she is writting about her pregnancy so I can keep clear. Because no mother should have to go through what I've been through and what I'm going through.
I was in tears ..... emotional thinking...... there are people out there that think before they speak. Not everyone opens their TRAPS..... just for the sake of it. SOME people really do care!!!!!
For these people I don't feel envy..... don't feel jealous.... I just feel growing love... friendship!
I told my virtual friend that I don't mind if she were to ignore ME..... reading me..... seeing my name will is proof that not all pregnancies have a happy ending..... I really don't want to be the reminder for pregnant mothers that things can go wrong. I suppose it's a bit of a contradiction with babyloss awareness......
Thank you THEA. Thank you for making me realise who I should REALLY be giving my love, time and respect to.

Ho i miei ricordi.
Buonanotte Angioletto Mio!
I haven't been blogging much lately. I haven't been doing much of anything lately.
I've been trying to find a photo. I have been such an idiot! I know you can't turn back the clocks... but I really honestly thought it was possible on the internet.
The photo I'm looking for is one I took of Thea's little outfit. Her "birthday" outfit. I was so careful when I chose it for her. I got her matching booties. It was perfect. Little did I know it whould have been the only outfit she would ever wear.
Now I took this photo to show some mums on a mummy forum. After Thea.. I cancelled the picture from the forum and from photobucket.
I have spent a few weeks trying programs to recover cancelled photos without success. I've been writing messages to various administrators asking them if they have anything in their back up systems. I've tried everything but nothing can bring that photo back. I would have had at least a picture of the clothes she is wearing.
Nothing. No one can bring Thea back and it seems like a paradox.... but the same thing has happened to the photo.
I have my memories.. I have Thea in my heart.. I have Thea all around me.... should I be greatful for what I have? greatful?
My head is so mixed up!
goodnight my angel...

Flowers for my princess.
Today is All Saints day. In our village we go to the cemetary today and tomorrow. This year I have a particular and special link with the cemetary. The cemetary has become a place of peace and a way to stay closer to my little girl. I used to see it as a place of sadness and fear.
I wanted to take a different kind of flower arangement to my baby. I thought about having it done with a teddy bear. I aked the florist if they could do it and that I would have found a teddy bear. They said it could be done and that they would wait for me to give them the teddy bear.
I looked in various shops..... but all the teddies were blue.... I needed a pink one for my princess.
Sunday morning. An unusual day to go shopping ..... (never gone shopping on a Sunday because all shops are usually closed on Sunday). I go into a shop to buy things for Luca. I have a look around the teddy department ... what do I find? I find a teddy.... a pink one....I turn it around..... WINGS! Perfect!
Here is the flower arangment I had made for Thea:

Angel of Hope
Today.... is a good day!
Today is a day that can be called "DAY OF HOPE!"
I look at the sky and smile and say THANK YOU with tears in my eyes!
Today is not a Wednesday.... it's Tuesday. Well please allow me a Wordless Tueday!
Oggi.....

Why is it....
Grazie.
...... that when something as big as losing your baby happens..... everything that before was nothing becomes worrying and a BIG DEAL????
Since losing Thea I've become a big worrier!
Most of the really stupid things I worried about before have become nothing to me. The other things.... like tomorrow is making me so worried. My dad is being operated on an umbilical hernia. I suppose this kind a kind of Op that they do everyday. Like.... taking tonsils out or something. Thing is.... I'm (excuse the language) shitting myself!
He's diabetic. I'm so worried they're going to give him the wrong medication and everything will get complicated.
Maybe it's because I don't trust anyone anymore....
I want my old me back! I know.... I'm boring. I keep saying it.
Say a prayer for my dad so everything will turn out ok and postive thoughts for those of you who don't pray. Thank you.

7 mesi....7months
7 months have passed. Every 25th of every month I go through it all again... hour by hour... minute by minute and second by second.
We came to your little grave today.... brought you one single white rose. Your daddy and I.
At this time I was probably alone in that cold hospital room. You weren't with me anymore.... no more kicks... no more pregnancy. In that hospital bed I remember thinking... Thea is no more. Seven months later I can say.... "Thea will alway be!". She's not here as I would like her to be.... but she is!
Everything I do I do it thinking of her.
Today we went out to buy some clothes for Luca and Gero. I kept thinking about Thea.... that he should have been in her buggy shopping with us and I should have been shopping for her too.
We walked into a shop and found a dance game for the Wii. I thought of wanting to dance with Thea as I always do with my boys. So I did. I bought the game. We played... we laughed.... we kept bumping into each other and doing the wrong steps. We did it all with her. THEA!!!!
Thea Ballerina...thank you baby girl.

First day at work...
"NO!"
Well it wasn't much of a first day after all. I got up this morning. Sent a kiss up to heaven to my little baby in the sky.
Downloaded some emails onto my phone and found an email from my priest. Tears started rolling down my cheeks.... then I said "Thea we can do this!". I clenched my fist.... and I swore I could feel a little hand in my hand clentching me tight too!
I got ready, kissed my babies... and went off to work.
When I arrived I was greated with a "what are you doing here?".... ehmmm...... "Didn't they ring you to tell you that your class is in the town square for the blessing of the new school year?" "nope!"
I was then told I could go home. I walked into the school..... arms totally empty..... and was catapolted for a minute into the past. The happy past. When I was carefree and worryless. When I would dance around and sing with my little pupils and we would laugh all day.
Then those little girls.... who stared at me. I thought it was just me noticing it.... but then someone else said "look at the way Sara is looking at you!" I'm sure they weren't looking at me. They were definately looking at the little angel on my shoulder......

This is Mr Worry. Mr Worries a lot he even worries when he's got nothing to worry about.
I'm worried because tomorrow I'll be going back to work. It has been a year since I've not been back. Having to go back without a baby waiting for me at home..... is.... heart breaking!!!!
I work in a pre school. We have a nursery and the preschool part of the school. I so hope they don't want me to help out in the nursery part tomorrow. I don't think I'll be up to looking after little babies.
I'll only be going one day a week for now. My bosses are being very good with me.
Wish me luck... and I wish I could give this little blue man all my worries!!!

GRAZIE A TUTTI. Ho ancora bisogno di voi....

Madre.
Scrivo Luca.
Avevo fiducia in lui.
Poi ho iniziato a pregare.

M is for
Mourning, Mother Myoma and Miraculous Medal.
Mourning. After six month I have not finished mourning
my daughter. I don’t think I ever will.
The Grieving/mourning is a long one.
There are lots of phases and lots of different feelings you go
through. I really didn’t think it would
be like this. The closest people I’ve
ever lost were my grandparents and three years ago my father in law. The pain was great…. But nothing compared to
this.
There are
things that have REALLY helped me through these 6 months. Writing this blog for one… has REALLY helped
so much. The www.ciaoplapo.it forum has helped me SO
much. Being in touch with people that
KNOW….. Is really a good thing! Reading
other BLM’ blogs make me realize that what I feel is “normal”. Two Mummy forums that have been very close
have been: www.mammeonline.net and www.mumonline.net . My
family. Near and far have been close and
supportive. THANK YOU ALL. I still need you….
Mother. A mother of Three. That’s me.
Only two little boys can be seen.
I have been asked how many children I have in these 6 months and I’ve
said two boys. I could have slapped
myself round the face for that. THERE
ARE THREE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m a mum to three!
When Gero
started Nursery school in September the teacher gave us all a questionnaire. We had to fill in sections… like: like/dislikes,
what does he like and not like to play with? What you expect from the school
etc. I came to the section…. Brothers
and sisters and their ages. I filled in
Luca. Then hesitated and went on to fill
in the other sections. I just couldn’t
stop thinking about the brother and sister section. I went back to it…. I then wrote: He has a
little sister Thea Caterina. If he ever
talks about her he knows that his little sister is an angel and has gone up to
heaven. He never met her because she
left us when I was eight months pregnant.
I FELT SO GOOD AFTERWARDS!!!!!
I will
always be a mummy of THREE!
Myoma and
Miraculous Medal. There is a reason why
I put these 2 together. He goes the
explanation.
During my
pregnancy the doc. said I had a Myoma on my uterus. He said that most probably after I had Thea I
would have to have surgery to have it removed.
Ok. He said it was nothing. I trusted him. Though nothing of it. After Thea….everything the doc. had said
before didn’t matter. I didn’t trust him
anymore and thought that everything he had said before were just lies.
When I went
to see him to talk about what had happened and to have a checkup…. He confirmed
that the Myoma was still there. He said
to wait until September and have it taken out.
Ok
I then
started thinking about the Myoma. My
main thought was that it was still there and that just maybe I would have to
have surgery but have my uterus taken out with the Myoma. That way if I had just a little bit of
thought about having another baby it would all vanish because it will never be possible.
I thought
about going to another doc. He is a well
known doc. who is VERY professional. I
made an appointment and the days that led up to that appointment were nerve
wrecking. I kept thinking of the
worst. I then started praying. Something I had stopped doing. I went to church for the first time in many
months. The priest talked about the
miraculous medal. He said to wear it…. To
keep it near because the Virgin Mary blesses whoever wears it. He said to put all your troubles to the
Virgin Mary and give her your life. She
would then sort out your troubles and do everything God wanted just by
believing in the miraculous Medal.
I prayed
and said: if you want me to have another baby….. If it is Thea’s will for me to
have another baby…. Then make the Myoma go away. If not…. if it is no ones will for me to have
another baby…. Then make there be the Myoma…. Make it even bigger so they have
to take away my uterus.
We went to
the doc’s office. We explained what had
happened to Thea. We told him all of our
fears and out doubts about the pregnancy and about Thea’s doc. He was VERY sensitive. VERY kind and for the first time in 6 months
he looked us both right into our eyes and we could tell that he was speaking
from heart.
He then
went on to talk about future pregnancies. My hubby said… “Well no… we’re not
thinking about another baby at the moment because what happened was very
traumatic…. Seeing my daughter in that little white coffin… everything was like
a nightmare” Through the whole explanation the doc nodded and said I know. He then went on to say “I know…. Not because
I have had patients that have lost babies so far ahead…. Not because I’ve
studied it in books…. I know because 17 years ago I lost my son at 35 weeks”. He was a baby loss dad! That was why he spoke with his heart. I’ve spoken to many baby loss parents… across
the web but I have never met anyone before.
That eye contact meant everything to me.
He gave me
and ultra scan to see how the Myoma “was coming along”. He looked at me and said “Mrs. M. what was it
that your doctor was going to have to operate on? You have nothing on your
uterus!” You cannot imagine that after 6
months of grieving and thinking about that stupid Myoma…. What joy that was.
I walked
out of the doc’s office with a smile.
We had to
speak to the doc’s secretary…. When I looked at her necklace…. Guess what she
was wearing? YES! The miraculous Medal. Then I remembered my prayer! As soon as I got home I thanked the Virgin
Mary. I ordered a medal from the
internet. When it arrived it was quite
big…. So I put it in my pocket. I lost
itL guess what arrived in the post a week
after? All the homes in the village had
a miraculous medal sent to their homes!
I’m wearing it now!
