two years ago today....due anni fa oggi...

I find myself having these thoughts the nearer I get to Thea's Angelversary.

Today I was thinking..... Two years ago today.... it was raining and I went to buy a nightie that had bottons all the way down the front of it for the birth.

I was SO obsessed by having everything ready for Thea's arrival.  I wanted everything to be perfect.  It was!

Everything was ready.... we were waiting for her....and then she arrived too early....

I sometimes think..... if I wasnt so obssessed with everything being ready... then, just maybe, she wouldn't have arrived so early and she would be here today.

I know.... you're all thinking.... "no more What If's".  I know I shouldn't be carrying on with these what ifs.  Do they ever stop?  Will I be tempted with what ifs for the rest of my life?

Lo so.... state pensando ...

A Beautiful Butterfly....

... arrived in the post the other day.

Another BLM from Rome sent it to me.  A BLM that has become a true friend!!!

What a shame I didn't have my camera with me....

I've been seeing heart everywhere!!!!!!

A little girl a school today..... wanted to give me her cracker.  She showed it to me.  It was heart shaped.  Beautifully heart shaped.  Something a little girl who is two just can't do!  She showed it to me then popped it in her mouth.

Other little hearts at school.  Paint in heart shape.  Toys in a heart shape.

Ho visto cuori daperttutto!!!!!

Altri piccoli cuori erano a scuola pure.  La tempera a forma di cuore.  Giochi a forma di cuore.

A Birthday Card for Thea!

Thank you Thank you Thank you Sarita for remembering Thea's birthday!

Sarita is Meridith's mother.  Meridith would have been just a little older than me now.

Sarita is the proof that no matter how many children you may have.... no matter how long ago you lost your baby.... your heart continues to grow with love for our missing babies.

I hope to post the photo of the card later on.

Thank you again Sarita!

Grazie ancora Sarita!

March has arrived.... Marzo è arrivato....

It has arrived.

Soon it'll be the 13th of March.  We always celebrate the 13th of March because it's Hubby's birthday.

Two years ago though it was the last time we saw Thea.  She was there... alive and kicking on that monitor.  Little did I know that that was the last time I'd ever see her move and hear her little heart beating.

The 25th of March is coming up.  I've got everything ready in my head.  Everything I want to do.  Just like last year.  I also think I'm going to take a day off work.  I want to REALLY dedicate the whole day to my little princess.  (not that my days aren't dedicated to her already).

To whoever hasn't ready the previous message.... I'm having a give away for Thea on the 25th.  I'm giving away the book: Heaven is for real.  Feel free to sign up.

E' arrivato.

Come l'anno scorso.

Sorteggio il libro: Heaven is for real.  Partecipate.

The perfect words ..... le parole perfette

"E tu come stai?

Yesterday my cousin's daughter gave birth to her daughter.  We are very close even if we are now not very close relatives and we are far away (they don't live in Italy).

When they told me that S. went into hospital to give birth I started to feel the anxiety!

I prayed that everything would go well.  I asked my little baby to protect S. and accompany her little girl into her arms alive and screaming.

After a little while I recieved the phone call announcing the birth.  I asked how everyone is then I congratulate them.

I was relieved that everything went well.  The anxiety vanished and I smile a half smile.

Yep "Half" a smile.

After that I recieve a foto of the little one.  I was lovingly looking for the similarities with her mum and dad.  I had still had my half smile.

I sent the photo to a relative.  I'm not that fond of this relative.  Well really.... to tell the truth I'm not fond of her at all for things that happened in the past.

Having commented the beauty of the new arrival.  she uses the perfect words.  Words that I didn't expect.

"And how are you? These events leave you with a lump in your throat I suppose"

YES!

The half smile becomes a full smile.

I say that I am fine.  The lump is there.... that I'm relieved...... but not jealous.  When a new baby arrives you realise what you're missing.

I didn't think that this person would have remembered and was aware of what could have been my feelings after such an event.

A month today and you'll be two....Un mese oggi e compi 2 anni.....

Two years with and without you.

Well today ..... for your 23 monthversary..... someone said.... "I went to the cemetary today and the Flower pot was full of rain water.  I didn't want to move it incase the pebbles moved".

I was happy!

My baby had a visit.  Someone kissed her tomb.  Someone remembered her.  Someone other than my family and me.  Now that is something to be happy about!!!!

Strange how grief changes what makes you happy.

Never thought I would be happy about such a morbid thing.  I now don't think about it as morbid but as a sweet and kind gesture.... and the cemetary isn't a morbid place for me anymore... it's a special place that contains a piece of me of my heart.....

After having read this book my heart cried....... "Simonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ask for a photo of your son.  You can.  You had a post mortum done.  They will definately have a photo of your little one.

I wonder if she already has asked for it.  I wonder if she has already met him.

But whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!  Why didn't I have a post mortem done on Thea????????????  I would have had a photo of my beautiful daughter.... but no.  And now..... sometimes.... I think I have forgotten her face :(

What happened to my dream?

Two posts in one day!

I just remembered what the priest said today at mass.  Today was "the day of LIFE".  He was explaining to the children in church that they were.... "A dream in God's hand and next to the dream on God's hand came the child's parents and they sat together waiting for that dream to become reality".

What happened to my dream?

What do they see when they look at me????

I often think about what people may see when they look at me.

Most people that see me.... I don't think they even remember what happened.  They've forgotten all about it.

I often ask myself this question when I see a pregnant woman that knows that I have lost Thea.  Does she look at me thinking ..... "oh my God please don't it happen to me".  Or does she think "It only happened to her because she was unlucky.  It can't happen to me!".

Thinking about what they may think... I sometimes try not to be around pregnant women. Not only because I think of what I have missed out on..... but mainly because I don't want to terrorize anyone.

I really hope that's not the effect I may give!

Oppure pensa "E' successo a lei solo perchè è stata sfortunata.  Non puo' succedere a me!".

Happy Birthday Camilla.

Is that your stroller?

Picked up my second born from school the other day.  Met a grandfather outside school.  There was a stroller just behind me that a mother had left.

The grandfather said:  is that your stroller?  I said "no... don't need one anymore.  Mine have grown".  He knows me.  As everyone knows everyone here in this little village.  He knows about Thea too. I thought that would be the end of that conversation but he went on.... "why not? you need a little girl now!".  I said I had my little girl.  he answered.  "It doesn't matter!".

I didn't carry on talking.  I wanted to.  I wanted to say... it does matter.  A whole lot.  I have a daughter.  She exsists.  She's not in my immagination and her exsistance can't be disrispected!!!!

Sorry Thea.

I'm really sorry for not speaking up for you.

Il nonno mi chiese " è tuo quel passeggino?" dico "no .... no mi serve più.

Scusami Thea.

Mi dispiace per non averti difesa.

Have a good day at school....

These were the words we heard the other morning when we were about to go to school.  Luca and Calogero were ready.... so was I.  We walk outside the front door and Hubby's aunt says "Have a good day at school"  then adds.... "All three of you!"  I knew it was meant for the boys and me...(I teach) but I couldn't stop thinking that it could have been said to Thea too.

As we were about to turn the corner to get to the car.... Luca asked "Mum.... if Thea was here would she be going to your school with you?"

I almost jumped for joy.  Luca had the exact same thought as me.  He was thinking of his little sister!

I'm so happy that my boys speak to me openly about Thea.... I'm so happy that they talk about her often.  I'm happy and.... and this might seem strange.  I feel quite "LUCKY" that they talk about her.  Not all big brothers do.

Dopo aggiunge "A tutti e tre!".

You REALLY ARE everywhere!

I started playing another stupid internet game.  It's all about Village life.  Well.... it's quite silly really.  Couples that get together.... have babies.... work .... pick fruit.  The usual internet rubbish.  When my couple had their baby they had twins.  Then came the time for me to name the babies.  Lucky, I thought, there's a generate button so I don't have to think one up.  Clicked the generate button... and Braydon come out.  Ok... that's fine for all I care.  Then the little girl's name.  Ok..... I'll hit the generate button again and there it was...... there YOU were!  Looking me in the face!  THEA!  out of all the names there were ..... how come Thea was generated?  was it just chance?  was it you telling me you are here with me?

whatever it was thank you!  I needed it!

Miss you baby girl.

Guardandomi in faccia!

Qualsiasi cosa fosse GRAZIE!  Ne avevo bisogno!

Mi manchi piccola.

O Christmas Tree.

I took down the Christmas Tree today.

As I was taking down the decorations I mentally started talking to it:

I didn't get you out last year.  I put you away two years ago saying that next year you'll find us all with a little girl to make happy.  Well the little girl.... my daughter.... isn't here.  I put you up this year mentally telling you all about how I was childless and brotherless.  I wonder how you'll find me in December this year?

See you soon Christmas Tree.
